Hot off the news that they will not return to the Forgotten Realms, Belgian developer Larian Studios announced this morning that they have opened a new studio in Warsaw, Poland.
The studio praised several aspects of Poland’s atmosphere, including the scenic landscape and growing game dev scene. In addition to opening their seventh location, they confirmed on social media that they have two “very ambitious RPGs” starting development before closing with a call for talent to apply.
Back in March, it was announced that Larian had no intentions of adding more content to the Game of the Year winner Baldur’s Gate 3, nor would they be developing a potential sequel. After finishing up a handful of promised features and updates, all development on the title will cease and the studio will move on to other projects.
Swen Vincke founded the studio back in 1996 and he still oversees it today. They were primarily known for the Divinity series, but gained a surge in popularity with 2014’s Divinity: Original Sin and its 2017 sequel, Divinity: Original Sin II. Their collaboration with Wizards of the Coast led to Baldur’s Gate 3, the first-ever title to win five Game of the Year awards.
