Star Wars: Outlaws - August 30th, 2024
This action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft promises the Star Wars underworld adventure you’ve always dreamed of after seeing Han make his entrance in A New Hope. Starring a human named Kay Vess along with her adorable Merqaal sidekick Nix, the game will feature several planets and a galaxy-wide policing system akin to Grand Theft Auto.
Star Wars Jedi 3 - Unknown
Quietly confirmed by Cal Kestis actor Cameron Monaghan, a third game in the Jedi franchise is on the way. Respawn’s action-adventure series has made financial and critical waves, so completing the trilogy is no surprise. Judging by the end of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, this new adventure will feature a team-up between protagonist Cal, the former Nightsister Merrin, and newcomer Kata.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake - Unknown
Announced at the PlayStation Showcase in 2021, this remake of the fan-favorite Bioware RPG has faced a troubled development. Aspyr Media, who developed ports of the Knights of the Old Republic series for modern consoles, headed up development before it was “halted indefinitely” in 2022. Almost a year later, their parent company Embracer Media stated that they still intended to release the game. As of April 2024, partner studio Saber Interactive declared that the project was “alive and well” after parting from Embracer.
Star Wars: Eclipse - Unknown
This Quantic Dream developed title has been radio silent since the gorgeous announcement trailer was released to the world at the Game Awards in 2021. While no release date has been discussed, Lisa Pendse, Quantic Dream’s Vice-President of Marketing confirmed to IGN in 2023 that it’s still coming, commenting “Can I say it still exists? Because it exists. It's just not ready. It's simmering.”
Total War: Star Wars - Unknown
It’s rumored that Creative Assembly is working on a fresh installment in the Total War franchise that would feature everyone’s favorite Star Wars factions and units. This comes fresh off the news that the company canceled its FPS venture Hyenas two weeks after its beta, and then subsequently cut its staff.
Star Wars Strategy Game from Bit Reactor/Respawn - Unknown
In early 2022, EA announced it was developing three unique Star Wars projects at Respawn. One became Jedi: Survivor, and one was an FPS where the player would become a Mandalorian bounty hunter. The former was released in 2023 and the latter was canceled earlier this year. But the third was a strategy game created by brand new studio Bit Reactor with Respawn serving as publisher. The team is made up of former Xcom and Civilization developers.
Star Wars Action-Adventure Game from Skydance New Media - Unknown
After the cancelation of the Star Wars-based Project Ragtag and the closure of Visceral Games, prolific video game writer and game director Amy Hennig (Legacy of Kain, Uncharted) ended up at Skydance New Media where the studio signed on to a Marvel project, revealed to be Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. In 2022, Skydance also announced that they will develop a “richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story in the legendary Star Wars Galaxy.” Likely, we won’t see anything more about this project until Rise of Hydra launches next year.
