Dredge Reels in 1 Million Copies Sold
Black Salt Games had hoped to sell 100,000 in its first year
Dredge, the fishing adventure game with some seriously ominous and eerie vibes, recently recorded a huge milestone of having sold a million copies.
The news comes via Game Developer at PAX Australia, in an interview with Dredge producer Nadia Thorne and 3D artist Mikey Bastiaens of Black Salt Games. Thorne said they had “hoped to maybe sell 100,000 copies in our first year," an admirable goal for an indie studio’s first title.
When did they reach 100,000? Thorne revealed that the game had hit that magic number within 24 hours of launching, with Bastiaens noting that during the launch party, they were “just refreshing the [sales page] going 'oh my god, oh my god.'"
And that’s just the beginning. Black Salt has released a number of free updates for the game, adding in different characters, photo mode items, ways to customize your boat, and more. Just last week, they announced The Pale Reach, the first paid expansion for Dredge, available next month.
