Death Stranding Movie Finds Its Home
A24 is partnering with Kojima Productions to bring the game to the big screen!
One year ago, Hideo Kojima announced that he was making a live-action Death Stranding movie. This morning, he announced he’s teaming up with independent film producers A24 to make it happen. The storied developer said in a statement that the studio’s “innovative approach to storytelling aligns with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the last 8 years.”
Death Stranding released in 2019 for the Playstation 4, and received a special director’s cut re-release for Playstation 5 in 2021. Starring Norman Reedus, the game also featured a cast of Hollywood stars such as Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, and Guillermo del Toro. The story followed Sam Porter Bridges (Reedus) as he trekked across a post-apocalyptic United States before being tasked with an incredibly important delivery.
A24 is a Manhattan-based production company that was founded in 2012 and has received critical acclaim in recent years. Their 2022 multiverse film Everything Everywhere All at Once won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture. Other films from their library include Uncut Gems, Moonlight, Hereditary, and Midsommar.
