BlizzCon is in person this weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center, and a feast of new information was released during Friday’s Opening Ceremony. From Overwatch to Diablo and Hearthstone and World of Warcraft and beyond, here are today’s biggest announcements from the Opening Ceremony.
Overwatch 2 players, there’s a new tank on the way for the 8th season! Meet Mauga. He’s equipped with two chain guns, an unstoppable charge, and ready to rumble.
Speaking of Overwatch 2, the Overwatch World Cup is taking place during BlizzCon as well. We’re not sure if the Overwatch League will be coming back or what it’ll look like when it does, so soak up the moments while you can.
Finally, a new damage hero, a new support hero, a new map, and a new game mode were teased for Overwatch 2, coming in 2024.
Hearthstone is celebrating its 10th (yep, it’s that old) anniversary in March, but before then, a Wild West-themed expansion called “Shadow in the Badlands” is coming on November 14th.
Diablo IV is getting an expansion in “late 2024,” and they shared a brief look during Friday’s Opening Ceremony. It’s called Vessel of Hatred, and it’ll add two new regions to the game and a new class.
It’s a mobile game, but thankfully no one asked if we had phones during the announcement. Warcraft Rumble is out now, featuring PvE and PvP modes, and you can download it on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
A new age of Cataclysm arrives in the first half of 2024, in Cataclysm Classic, so hopefully you’re prepared to face Deathwing! Classic progression realms will advance from Wrath Classic to Cataclysm Classic, taking player feedback into account.
Chris Metzen announced not one, not two, but the next three expansions for World of Warcraft, promising fans that “we’re not screwing around” when it comes to WoW storytelling. The Worldsoul Saga’s three expansions are The War Within, Midnight, and The Last Titan.
